Who are we?
Outback NSW Tourism is a state recognised regional tourism organisation (RTO) supported by Tourism NSW and its membership.
The RTO has contracted an Executive Manager that conducts day to day activities for the organisation, who is led by a board of representatives from the FULL members;
- Balranald Shire Council – Hank van Apeldoorn (Secretary)
- Bourke Shire Council – Steve Greentree (Vice Chair)
- Brewarrina Shire Council – Matthew Slack-Smith
- Broken Hill City Council – Vacant
- Central Darling Shire Council – Kym Fuller
- Lightning Ridge Tourism Association – Roger Collins
- National Parks & Wildlife Service – Matt Colahan
- Wentworth Tourism Association – Julie-Ann Wuttke (Chair)
- Walgett Shire Council – Vacant
- Hay Shire Council - Robyn Ryan
- Nyngan Shire Council - Vacant
The unincorporated area has been provided a full membership without the financial contribution as agreed by the board in 2005. The current representative for this area is Mr Kevin White.
In addition the board recognises the importance to having an additional industry operators represented on the board, and in 2008 a board member was accepted to voice the opinion of the industry. This current representative is Mr Mick McCulkin from Tri State Safaris.
The Executive Manager is required to conduct activities in line with the business plan and meet the objectives of increasing tourism visitation and expenditure to the area.
Membership allows the industry to be involved and access benefits that the organisation provides to help their businesses to grow. It also provides much needed funds to sustain the organisation and Outback NSW’s marketing into the future.
